Adults quiz

Each student was in charge of asking 3 adult people. This is the questionnaire. Take a look at some of the results and the conclusions that our students have drawn from them.

PART ONE

adults1

PART ONE CONCLUSIONS

1 People try to plan their shopping but marketing techniques make them buy more products that the ones they expected to buy.

2 Most people try to shop in advance but they finally end up buying on the last minute

3 When people go to a restaurant most of them work out exactly what each person owes and pay for what they have eaten.

4 Most people get rid of their small change by paying for every purchase with the exact change. In our opinion, this is probably because once you change a bid note, you spend it very fast.

5 When a quality shop is having a huge sale most of the people go there to have a look to see if there’s anything worth buying.

6 When buying a present for someone most people choose what they think that person will like instead of fancy or expensive presents.

7 Most people prefer paying cash and keeping their credit card for emergencies.

8 Most people buy their clothes in shops with friendly personal service

9 Most people feel bad or cheated when they’ve bought something that is cheaper somewhere else.

10 When receiving a non-expected bonus, most people pay off their debts and then put the rest in a saving account. The adults we intervierwed would rather save up their money although we think that if it was a huge amount, they would do both.

PART TWO:TRUE OR FALSE?

1 Most people deny being nervous when carrying large sums of money

2 Most people say that they don’t mind spending money but they hate being overcharged. Actually, we all feel tricked when we are paying too much for something we don’t really need.

3 Most people say that if a friend of them needed financial help, they would help if they could.

4 Most people don’t like being pushed to buy something and prefer being alone when choosing what to buy. This is one of the reasons why most of us prefer big shopping centers to small shops.

5 Most people think they don’t constantly buy little gifts for friends and family

6 Most people prefer to buy good quality clothes rather than overpriced designer labels.

7 Most people admit not to leave generous tips.

8 Most people say they pay their bills on time.

9 Most people admit to be careful with their money but never stingy

10 Most people say that they buy more things for themselves than for other people

11 Approximately 50% of the people admit to get out of their ways to get the lowest price

12 Most of the people say that they would have to be a millionaire to pay 200 € for a pair of shoes

13 Most people like to shop in shops with staff that they know. This is a contradiction since in question 4 they had said they rather be alone.

14 Most people don’t think that credit cards are bad news and they sometimes pay with them

15 Most people do not refuse to wear cheap or poor-quality clothing.

16  A little bit more than half of the people think that a pound saved is one they don’t have to go out and earn; this means people tend to save up as much as they can.

17 Most people don’t use shopping therapy when they are down.

18 Most people do not like using 50 € notes. The sooner you “start” it, the sooner you spend it.

19 Most people don’t invest on the stock market because they are afraid of losing everything they have.

20 A bit more than half of the people reckon that they have an eye for the bargains

To sum up, we could say for our results that we are very careful when we go shopping and that we have a society which is aware of the problems of buying without control. In a world where consumerism is the rule, we must conclude that if we had asked all these questions 3 to 5 years ago, when the economical situation was so good, people would not have answered the same and the results of this survey would probably be quite different. This shows that the more money people have, the least careful they are when spending it.
